Adding a video clip to you website

You can download a video clip from a site like www.youtube.com and save it as a Flash Video File ( video.flv )

To download from Youtube, follow these instructions.

Access the Youtube website

Search for the video that you would like to include in your site:

Once the video loads up on Youtube, you can highlight the hyperlink, right click it and select COPY

Then open the following site up:

http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/

Paste the Youtube link into the URL box on the TechCrunch page.

Click on GET VIDEO

Choose a save location:

Make sure that you save in FLV format e.g. video1.flv make sure you add .flv to the end of the file name !

Once downloaded, the file can be used in Dreamweaver very easily.

Copy the file to the folder that contains your website.

Then open up dreamweaver at the page where you want to insert the video clip(s)

At the point where you want to insert the video, click and then select the insert menu from the top menu bar.

Select MEDIA and FLASH VIDEO as shown below.

A dialogue box like this will appear:

Click on the BROWSE button and locate the video clip

Selct the clip and Click OK

If you want to change the PLAY / PAUSE / REWIND buttons, select from the SKIN options.

 

When you click OK the video will be inserted on your current page:

The video will only play when you preview the website in a web browser.
