Making Bevelled Text with a Transparent centre
In this tutorial, I have assumed that you know how to use the text tools

To begin, follow these steps:

Open a new Canvas, canvas colour teal, size 300X200

Type Sample using Arial Black size 60 colour black

Copy and paste (3 times)

Make one copy of the text gold

Add an Effect Effects|Bevel and Emboss|Outer Bevel

Modify|Flatten Selection (In FW4 its Modify|Convert to Bitmap) |

On another copy of the black text, flatten it as well (convert to bitmap)

| 8 | Move the black text over the gold text. centre it so the bevel you want visible is visible. You may need to move the black text above the gold in the Layers panel

Click each black letter with the Magic Wand tool. Hold the Shift key as you click on each letter

Click on Select|Save Bitmap Selection

Press Ctrl+D to turn off selection.

Delete the black layer from the Layers panel

Select the gold text, Select|Restore Bitmap selection Modify|Marquee|Restore Selection)

Press delete, You now have a bevel around a hole you can see through
|

Ctrl+D to turn off selecion |

Place an image beneath the gold text so you can see through it.

| 17 | Select one of the black copies of text and fill it with a glass colour or the colour you'd like to look like glass. |

Lower the opacity to about 5-10 percent |

Move this text in the Layers panel below the gold text and position it to be visible through the hole you now have.

Select the last copy of the text

Text|Convert to Path Modify|Ungroup Modify|Alter Paths|Inset Path

Set Width to 2, click on Outside and click OK

Change fill to none and give it a 3px black stroke

Move beneath the blue text
